DONE IN A DAY

Each year, the Junior League of Lansing partakes in a variety of community service events lasting one day or one weekend. The League refers to these initiatives as “Done In A Day” projects.

Examples of past done in a day projects include the donation of money and/or volunteers to the following events: Ellen’s Race for Ele’s Place, Back to School Book Bags for Children of Ballentine Stepping Stones, Children’s Clothing Drive for Pregnancy Services, Family Corn Maze Event for Ele’s Place, Christmas Shopping for Caring About Kids, Arts and Crafts Projects for Children’s Special Olympics, Preparing Dinners for Guests of Ronald McDonald House, Adopt a Family for Department of Human Services, East Lansing Children’s Film Festival and Mother’s Day Gift Bags.

2008-2009 DONE IN A DAY PROJECTS SELECTED

With the increase in membership this past year, the DIAD Committee is pleased to have increased its offerings from seven to ten projects for the 2008–2009 year.

The projects that were approved are as follows: Sparrow Working Wonders 5K Race, Ballentine Back to School Backpacks, Caring About Kids, Ronald McDonald House Dinners, Mother’s Day Gift Bags, Habitat for Humanity, Girls on the Run, Haven House Repair/Renovation, Pregnancy Services Center (Baby and Maternity items collection) and Children’s Play Area (City Rescue Mission).

DONE IN A MEETING

In September 1999, the Junior League of Lansing began collecting items during their monthly business meeting. The Done In A Meeting projects are a way that JLL is able to help meet the needs of the greater Lansing community on a monthly basis. Examples of items collected for distribution to various community projects include chap stick and toothbrushes to Otto Health Center, infant onsies for Haslett Family Learning Center, markers and puzzles for EVE, socks and underwear for VOA, hair products for Haven House, baby wipes and laundry soap for Hannah's House and Beaner’s Gift Certificates for Mother’s Day Gift Bags.
