2006-2009 SIGNATURE PROJECT
|
Our new project for the next three years is a pilot program creating a partnership between the Lansing Food Bank, the Lansing Schools and Junior League of Lansing. Our members will be going to 2nd grade classrooms to read a story, share a snack provided by the food bank, and present all the children in the class with a book of their own to keep. The goal of this project is to educate children about healthy food choices through literature and positive mentoring and involvement in the classroom.
JLL members will visit 2nd grade classrooms in all 25 elementary schools over the 3-year period that we are involved with the project, spending more time in each classroom, making a greater impact on the students.
