Membership Today
The Junior League of Lansing (JLL) is home to more than 100 Active members, and nearly 300 Sustaining members. In recent years, an average of 30 new members benefit from our New Member training program each year. These women, plus many more, have given countless volunteer hours and financial support to the greater Lansing community since 1931.
JLL members join for a variety of reasons. Some are new to the area and looking to develop strong friendships. Others benefit from relationships that lead to business connections. Many know the commitment the JLL has to the greater Lansing community and want to be a part of making an impact. For all the different reasons women join Junior League, all will be exposed to training opportunities to prepare us for greater involvement in our communities, inspirational volunteer opportunities and a culture of giving.
JLL members are as diverse as the reasons they join. They are mothers, professionals, community leaders, career volunteers, and executives to name a few. They represent a diverse background with a variety of experience.
Serving Now and Tomorrow
JLL members are sought for positions on boards, chairing committees, and just getting the job done. Our trained volunteers can be found making a difference throughout the greater Lansing area.

MY JLL Story
Bridget Seitz
Bridget joined JLL so that she could be involved with a group of women that are smart, fun, and hold a great respect to improve the community we live in. She has enjoyed all of her placements that she has held. The greatest part is that each placement has provided her with an opportunity to meet more JLL members. One of the most important things to her about JLL is the wonderful friendships and camaraderie that goes with being a part of this amazing group of women. The energy and spirit is contagious and makes it easy for her to strive to be her best and build the community around her.
Julie Morgan
Julie had been out of college for a couple of years and wanted to get involved in the community. She was established in her career and needed to take another step toward personal development. One of her co-workers, who she has a great amount of respect for, was a member of Junior League and told her about the organization. She has enjoyed being the treasurer the most. It has been very challenging and rewarding for her. She feels the best part of it is being part of the board of directors and feels that there is a great group of people on the board. There are two very important things to her. She loves knowing that JLL makes a positive impact on our community and the fact that she, personally, makes an impact as a result of being a member of JLL. The other reason that JLL is very important to her is because of the personal relationships she has formed with other JLL members over the past few years.
Melissa Seifert
Melissa joined because her good friend Michelle Lange was talking about going to a cookie exchange for Junior League of Lansing. She asked her what it was about and the rest is history. She has been an Active member for 2 years now and has taken what Junior League has taught her and applied it to her career and her life which has helped her excel both professionally and personally. She has found enjoyment in all her placements, but being the Chair of Fund Development opened her eyes to the impact Junior League has on the community. The most important thing to her about Junior League, outside of helping others, is the relationships she has made with other like minded, goal oriented, strong women. She feels that we really are making a difference in this community and we have fun along the way.
