Done in a Meeting
In September 1999, the Junior League of Lansing (JLL) began collecting items during their monthly general membership meetings to benefit organizations in the community in need of donations. This has become an important and significant way of furthering our Mission and helping those in need.
This year, we again will collect items for distribution to the following community projects:
- September--Carefree Dental: toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss
- October--Every Little Bottom Campaign: diapers
- November--League members broke into groups to perform spontaneous Random Acts of Kindness throughout the greater Lansing community
- January--St. Vincent Catholic Charities: toilet paper and toiletries
- February--City Rescue Mission of Lansing: cans of fruit and vegetables
- March--Ele's Place: 9" paper plates, napkins, 9 oz. plastic cups
- April--Haven House: shampoo and conditioner
- May--End Violent Encounters (EVE): toilet paper and sanitary items
Every Little Bottom
In addition, the JLL has partnered with the national campaign, Every Little Bottom, to collect diapers for those who cannot afford them. Many of us can't imagine having to keep your child home from daycare because you have run out of diapers, but one in three American familes struggle to afford diapers each year.
In April and May 2012, the Junior League of Lansing will be participating in the Huggies "Every Little Bottom" program. As part of the program, we will be collecting diapers to be donated to several shelters in the Lansing area. If you would like to donate diapers, please contact our office at (517) 324-8716 or email our Community Service Committee.
